MyCityMyBudget was launched as a pilot initiative in a few zones of Bengaluru in 2015. Since then, the program has evolved into a city-wide annual campaign, covering all eight city zones.

Our Key Accomplishments

2021

Launch phase-2 of the MCMB campaign. Program expands to 8 focus wards: Banaswadi, Gottigere, Doddanekundi, Malleshwaram, Kadu Malleshwara, C V Raman Nagar, Jakkasandra and Varthur

2020-21

9,706 inputs gathered across 198 wards in 21 days

Identified three critical civic issues: Health and sanitation, Footpaths, Public Urination

YellowSpotsBeda was a campaign launched in 2021. To put an end to the public urination issue. Citizens were asked to identify public urination spots (Yellow Spots) on the website and mark areas where there is a need to construct public toilets

BBMP earmarks Rs. 100cr funds for building Public Toilets with citizen participation for fund utilisation

BBMP municipal corporation acknowledges the MCMB Campaign in its budget speech

BBMP reserves Rs. 20 lakhs for 1,000 km of walkable footpaths, with at least 5 km per ward

BBMP earmarks 1% of the property tax for ward committees to solve ward-level issues

2018-19

MCMB signs a formal MoU with the BBMP. Receives over 67,114 budget inputs

2017

MCMB grows into a city-wide annual campaign supported by the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner of BBMP

2016

12,468 MCMB inputs worth Rs.600cr (approx.) are included in the BBMP Budget

2015

Launch of the MyCityMyBudget Campaign (MCMB) in a few pilot wards in Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (BBMP). Receives 6,037 budget inputs
